The Argentine hitman would be a useful addition to the Southampton squad.
The Saints will surely be more adventurous under Mauricio Pellegrino this season, than they were under Claude Puel last term.
Southampton scored the joint least goals out of all the teams inside the top 15 of the Premier League last season, and the addition of an accomplished striker will surely feature highly on the Argentine’s wish-list this summer.
With this in mind, Pellegrino should consider a move for his fellow countryman Emiliano Sala, who is currently plying his trade in Ligue 1 with Nantes.

The 26-year-old was in good form in France last term, scoring 15 goals and chipping in with four assists in 39 appearances for his club.
Standing at nearly 6ft 2in, Sala possesses a burly frame that would be ideally suited to the robust nature of the English game, and he would perfectly compliment Manolo Gabbiadini.
The Argentine is excellent with his back to goal, holding up the ball and bringing others into play. His style could be described as somewhat similar to Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud’s, and his presence in the Southampton side would surely help bring out the best in his teammates.
The fact that Pellegrino is Argentinian would surely play a major factor in convincing Sala into moving to St Mary’s, and would make the whole transition a lot easier.
He does still have three years remaining on his current deal in Nantes, so the Saints will have to offer a fairly substantial transfer fee in order to have any chance of prising him away from the Stade de la Beaujoire.
If Pellegrino manages to bring him to the south coast though, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Southampton.
