Arsenal ended the season with a win, beating Watford 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium to condemn them to relegation.

The Gunners ultimately had little to play for, but were quick out of the traps as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored from the penalty spot.

Kieran Tierney made it 2-0 to Arsenal inside 25 minutes, and Aubameyang quickly added a third to all but finish the game.

Troy Deeney bagged a penalty and ex-Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck pulled another one back against his former club, but it wasn’t enough for Watford.

The Hornets head down to the Championship after this defeat, and have ultimately been made to pay for a bizarre, chaotic season.

They have sacked three managers over the course of the season in Javi Gracia, Quique Sanchez Flores and Nigel Pearson, ending the campaign with caretaker boss Hayden Mullins in charge.

Watford now need to plan to get back to the Premier League, but striker Welbeck received some support from a former teammate at Arsenal.

Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez tweeted a photo of him consoling Welbeck following his relegation, telling him to ‘stay strong’.

Gunners fans joined in by sending Welbeck messages of support, with the former Arsenal attacker clearly still well-liked in North London.
