Emiliano Martinez is attempting to lure Argentinians to Aston Villa amid links to Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso.

Martinez has been speaking to Behind The Game for the Premier League’s YouTube channel.

Martinez admitted at 13 minutes in that he is trying to bring some of his Argentina teammates to Villa Park.

Unai Emery’s men are in blistering form right now and could have European football on offer for next season.

That would almost certainly tempt some players to Villa and Martinez is hoping some of his international teammates arrive.

“I love it here,” said Martinez. “I’m trying to bring friends to Villa, the Argentinians! I just feel at home,” he added.

Ian Wright then urged Martinez to try and bring Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo De Paul to Villa, branding him ‘awesome’.

Martinez wouldn’t be drawn on just who he wants to bring to Villa, but this could prove to be an exciting summer.

Aston Villa want Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso

That will leave Villa fans wondering just who Martinez could help lure to the Midlands this summer.

One name that really stands out from the crowd is that of Giovani Lo Celso.

The Daily Mail reported on Monday that Villa are looking to sign Lo Celso from Tottenham this summer.

The playmaker is out on loan at Villarreal and seemingly has no future at Tottenham.

Things may not have worked at Spurs but one man who loves Lo Celso is Villa boss Emery.

The Spaniard worked with Lo Celso at Paris Saint-Germain and Villarreal, so another reunion at Villa makes sense.

Martinez also knows Lo Celso well having featured together 17 times for Argentina – and they have never lost.

Lo Celso was injured for Argentina’s World Cup win but he has been a key player during Lionel Scaloni’s reign as manager.

With Tottenham surely open to selling this summer, Lo Celso and Martinez could become teammates at both club and international levels.
