Emiliano Buendia claims Aston Villa are ‘confident’ of beating West Ham United given their away form under Unai Emery. The Villa Park side travels to the London Stadium on Sunday.
Aston Villa have won four of their five Premier League away days since Emery took charge in November. Only Manchester City have prevented the Villans from taking any points with a 3-1 win this February. The Citizens also scored 75% of the goals that Villa have conceded.
Emery has seen his squad fire home eight goals on the road to just four conceded through five away days. Aston Villa had allowed 11 goals to just three scored away from Villa Park in six Premier League away games under Steven Gerrard this season. He oversaw zero wins.

Aston Villa’s away form under Unai Emery instils confidence in Emiliano Buendia
Gerrard’s record on the road in charge of the Birmingham outfit was the joint fourth-worst in the top-flight. Just Leicester City (0), Wolves and Leeds United (1) had fewer points than the Villans, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest (2). His final game was also a 3-0 loss at Fulham.
So, Buendia expects Aston Villa will visit West Ham confident about picking up another win away under Emery on Sunday. The 26-year-old also expects to face a tough opponent with David Moyes’ club even with the Hammers fighting to avoid relegation from the top-flight.
“We know they are a really good team with top players,” Buendia has told the Aston Villa club website. “They have had a tough season because they are not usually in that position in the table. Playing away in their stadium, they are a really good team.
“So, it’s going to be tough but I think we’ve shown we’re a different team when playing away now. We are confident playing away and we have learned to compete much better in away games. We go there to get the three points.”

West Ham United are stronger at home than on the road in the Premier League
While Aston Villa’s away form under Emery may offer Buendia confidence, West Ham are stronger at home than on the road in the Premier League so far this season. Moyes’ squad have taken 17 of their 23 points in east London after five wins and two draws in 12 games.
West Ham also took three of their six points away from home at Aston Villa in August. The Hammers beat Gerrard’s Villans 1-0 through Pablo Fornals’ deflected effort. The Irons have only sealed scored draws at Southampton, Leeds and Newcastle United on the road since.
