Arsenal have started talks for Emiliano Buendia according to the Daily Mail, with the Gunners desperate to get him in.

Martin Odegaard looks to be a very difficult signing after his loan from Real Madrid, and Edu is already targeting other playmakers.

Buendia looks to be the favourite, with Arsenal now keen to get in quickly and beat Aston Villa to his signature.

It’s hard not to be impressed with Buendia. The Argentinian was a creative force in the 2019-20 season, racking up key pass after key pass despite Norwich’s relegation.

This past season, Buendia hit a ridiculous 15 goals and 17 assists in 39 league games, and whilst Norwich are back in the Premier League, a move could still happen.

The Argentinian would cost around £40million, meaning Arsenal would still have to cough up a huge fee to sign him.

With those reports breaking, Buendia has now spoken to AS in Argentina about his future and his aims moving forward.

“One always dreams of being at the highest level and in the best teams in England, Spain or Europe,” said Buendia. “One dreams of playing for titles, it is an ambition that I have. It is a pride that important clubs are interested in you, it means that you are doing things well and it is a motivation to continue working and one day achieve it,” he added.

Buendia remained fairly coy about a deal, but it’s clear that the playmaker – branded ‘incredible’ by ex-Norwich ace Dean Ashton – has big ambitions.

Can Arsenal provide the trophies he’s seeking? Possibly not right now, but Mikel Arteta may be able to sell him the dream just as he did with Thomas Partey.
