Heskey has been impressed with his old club’s start to the season.
Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey believes the Jürgen Klopp effect has truly taken effect, he told ESPN.
The Reds have made an impressive start to the Premier League season as they currently sit a point clear at the top of the table after 11 games which has seen them score them score 30 goals already – the most in the division at this stage of the season.
Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp
Heskey told ESPN: “He’s taken his team and really solidified what he wants them to do, and where he wants them. There’s a lot of passion. You can see that from him on the sideline, and that’s oozing onto the players on the pitch.
Klopp has certainly provided Liverpool with an identity this season and it seems to be working so far as they are getting the better of sides of differing abilities. They’ve enjoyed wins over the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal on the road while they’ve dismantled side they made a habit of dropping points against – examples of these include Watford and Hull City.

The one worry that Heskey mentioned was their seeming defensive frailties, as they have only managed to keep the one clean sheet in the league so far this season – though they have kept two others in the EFL Cup – where they have managed to progress to the quarter-finals.
The former striker added: “The only [doubt] for me is they still concede goals. But if they’re going to concede two, they’re going to score four. It could be their year this year.”
Liverpool fans will certainly be hoping that last part is the case but they face stiff competition as two points currently covers the top four sides.
