Emi Martinez has posted on Twitter that it is ‘disappointing’ for Aston Villa to walk away from their defeat at Liverpool empty-handed.
The Aston Villa goalkeeper was a standout performer for his side, as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s men and their second defeat under Steven Gerrard.

In the end, it was a Mo Salah penalty that sealed the points for the Reds, after Villa made life tough for their opponents during large parts of the game.
Martinez pulled off a number of high-quality saves to keep Villa in the game, but he was unable to prevent Salah from scoring from the spot-kick despite his mind games beforehand.
As Villa fans saw at Old Trafford earlier on in the season, Martinez likes to get into the head of the opponent before they are stepping up to take the penalty.
Before Salah stepped up to take his, Martinez could be seen gesturing towards which corner he was going to strike the ball.
Credit to the Copa America winner, he guessed correctly, but the strike from Salah was just too good for him to stop.
Villa can’t dwell on this defeat too much because the games are now coming thick and fast during this busy festive period.
Steven Gerrard will face off against the man he replaced in the Villa Park dugout on Tuesday night, as the Midlands side take on Dean Smith and Norwich at Carrow Road.
From a tactical perspective, the Villa players will know a lot about the Norwich boss and Smith will know a lot about them.
So, it’s going to be an interesting tactical battle out on that field and whether someone like Smith changes up his plans because the opponents are far too familiar with what he’s going to do.
