Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has described Manchester United central defender Lisandro Martinez as an “animal” on Instagram following Argentina’s win against the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Qatar World Cup on Friday evening.

Argentina got the better of the Netherlands 4-3 on penalties after the quarter-final tie ended 2-2 after extra time.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez stole the show in the penalty shootout, as the former Arsenal player saved from Virgil van Dijk and Steven Berghuis.

Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martinez started the match and played for 113 minutes.

The £56.7 million (Sky Sports) 24-year-old was a rock at the back and seemed to enjoy the physical battle.

The former Ajax star was able to keep the Netherlands attackers at bay, although he was beaten by Wout Weghorst’s header.

Argentina will now play Croatia in the semi-finals, and it is very likely that both Emiliano Martinez and Lisandro Martinez will start for the South American giants.

As you can see below, Villa star Emi Martinez has praised his Argentina international teammate Lisandro Martinez on Instagram for his performance against the Netherlands.
