Emi Buendia has stated on Twitter that it was ‘special’ to be back at Carrow Road on Tuesday night during Aston Villa’s 2-0 win against Norwich.

This is despite the Villa midfielder being booed by sections of the home support during the game and when he was subbed off in the second half.

Even then, he was classy enough to clap the home crowd when he did go off and sent this message to both the Villa and Norwich supporters:

Ever since Steven Gerrard put on the Villa colours, Buendia has been one of his top performers.

All the big-money summer signing needs now are those goals and assists to match the performances he is producing.

But if he continues down his current road, then it will come because Villa are making strides under Gerrard.

Six games in, the Midlands side have won four of their matches, losing the other two against Manchester City and Liverpool.

Even the defeats against the Premier League title-chasers were by one-goal margins and very respectable performances were played out during those games.

They are sitting in the Premier League’s top ten ahead of their home clash against Burnley at the weekend.

Given Burnley’s struggles this season, they will be backing themselves to do the job against Sean Dyche’s men, who saw their home game against Watford on Wednesday postponed because of COVID.
