Former Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker will be allowed to leave Aston Villa this summer as the Premier League outfit pursue Leeds United’s Tyler Adams.
Anyone who watched Unai Emery’s Villa Park magnum opus – the enthralling 3-0 victory over Newcastle United – will understand exactly how Tyler Adams fits in.
The American international was one of the very few Leeds players to emerge out of the wreckage of relegation with his reputation unscathed. Prodigiously hard-working and superb out of possession, Adams would fit hand-in-glove at an Aston Villa side who, under the former Arsenal, Sevilla and PSG boss, pride themselves upon their high-pressing principles and their chest-thumping intensity on and off the ball.
Adams, the Birmingham Mail explain, would likely take Leander Dendoncker’s place in the Aston Villa dressing room.

Villa paid £13 million to sign the rangy Belgium international from Midland neighbours Wolves in August 2022. But, after finding himself in and out of Emery’s starting XI, the former European champions would be willing to let Dendoncker go should the right offer arrive.
Leander Dendoncker may have to leave Aston Villa
Aston Villa have already brought in Youri Tielemans on a free from Leicester City. Tielemans joins John McGinn, Boubacar Kamara, Jacob Ramsey, Emi Buendia and Douglas Luiz in a strong and well-balanced midfield; Adams potentially adding another injection of quality depth.
“I chose quickly because I knew immediately that I wanted to go to Aston Villa,” Tielemans told HLN Sport recently. “Because of the conversations I had and the plan that was presented to me.
“It all made sense. Aston Villa convinced me. The coach convinced me. The project convinced me. That’s why it didn’t take me so long to choose.

“I also wanted it wrapped up as quickly as possible, because I want to be as free as possible in my head in the coming weeks. The project is very clear. Aston Villa is really ambitious.
“Aston Villa have made so many positive steps under the new coach. And the way he spoke to me, the way he explained everything and the confidence he expressed in me…
“All that convinced me.”
