Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno has said that defender Emerson Royal needs to improve, as quoted in Football.London.
Nuno made the comments about Emerson following Tottenham’s 2-1 win against Aston Villa at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League this past weekend.
Emerson, who joined Spurs from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, started at right-back.
Nuno said about Emerson: “I honestly think he has to improve. He had a good game. He was stable, especially in the way that he controlled the width.
“He was really good going forward. I think he had moments when he should have decided better when he was in the box, but not only Emerson, I think all the team, it was important for us.”

Getting better
Emerson has done relatively well for Tottenham since his move to the North London club in the summer of 2021.
The 22-year-old has been disappointing on occasions this season, but when you consider that he is very young and has been playing in the Premier League for only a few weeks, then you have to say that he is doing well.
The Spurs no.12 has made three starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League so far this season.

It is very good management from Nuno to publicly tell Emerson that he needs to improve.
The Spurs head coach seems pleased with Emerson, but he wants more from the right-back.
It will keep Emerson on his toes and will stop him from getting complacent.
Tottenham are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
