Tottenham Hotspur right-back Emerson Royal has admitted to Sky Sports that he needs to improve his English.
Emerson has said that the language battier is an obstacle, but the Brazil international is confident that he will overcome it and will be a success at Spurs.
The 22-year-old joined Tottenham from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Emerson told Sky Sports: “It’s a goal of mine to pick up English as quickly as possible but I already understand what the manager is trying to implement. It’s not something which is going to happen overnight but slowly I’ll pick up the key English words in training.”
The youngster added: “For me, obstacles are there to be overcome. It’s a phrase I like to take forward with me wherever I’ve been in life.
“Right now, clearly I need to learn the language and adapt to a new climate but to me this is a very small thing that I can overcome.”

It is really encouraging to see that Emerson is conscious about the need to learn English.
It is not easy for anyone to learn a new language, and it could take the youngster a while to become fluent.
However, what is very encouraging and positive is that Emerson wants to improve his English.

It is clear that Emerson wants to do everything he possibly can to become a success at Tottenham.
The Tottenham no.12 has played twice in the Premier League and once in the Europa Conference League for Spurs so far this season.
Emerson has not exactly been great in his displays for Tottenham so far, but fans need not be worried and should be optimistic.
Spurs will take on Arsenal in the North London derby today, and Emerson will be keen to make an impact in the Premier League game.
