Emerson Royal has been blown away by Richarlison after he struck a second-half hat-trick for Tottenham Hotspur during their 5-1 pre-season win over Lion City Sailors in Singapore on Wednesday.

Tottenham fell behind early in the first-half, before Harry Kane levelled the scores from the spot. Ange Postecoglou then made wholesale changes during the break.

That saw Richarlison enter the picture and the 26-year-old didn’t waste any time in making his mark because, inside seven minutes, he had hit a brace.

Emerson Royal helped him get his hat-trick and the right-back was delighted at that by stating ‘I am so happy with this’, as he told Spurs Play.

This is a much-needed confidence boost for Richarlison because of his struggles last season and how he had been fairly quiet in pre-season so far.

But he will be hoping this is lift off and it can help him start producing on a regular basis ahead of the new Premier League season.

“This guy is amazing,” said Emerson Royal. “I speak every time about Richy because this guy serves the goals, the best.

“For me, he is still very good. The third goal, I passed to him, so I am happy with this.”

With a more attack-minded coach in the dugout, Richarlison will be hoping it equates to better performances on the pitch because life has been tough so far at Hotspur Way.

Keeping Harry Kane will be key for the player because if the England captain heads for the exit door and joins Bayern Munich, then many inside the club will suffer.

There are already some questioning if Richarlison can do the business next season, but for now, he can only take it slowly and build his confidence, which he has done in emphatic fashion over in Singapore.
