Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has suggested that Son Heung-min pretends to be Brazilian in the dressing room.

Emerson Royal has opened up on the Tottenham Hotspur dressing room – and highlighted Son Heung-min’s role.

Ange Postecoglou not only had to deal with the exit of Harry Kane, but also had to appoint a new captain.

Kane was vice-captain to unwanted goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, so Tottenham needed a new leadership group in Postecoglou’s squad.

Postecoglou went for Son Heung-min as captain with Cristian Romero and James Maddison as vice-captains, ushering in a new era in North London.

Emerson Royal comments on Son Heung-min

Son appears to be loved as Tottenham captain and he has been in blistering form to start the new Premier League season.

The South Korean has hit eight goals in 10 Premier League games, thriving in more of a central role this season.

Right back Emerson Royal has now commented on Son, suggesting that he is one of the most vocal players in the Tottenham dressing room.

Emerson noted that the South American contingent are the loudest in the Spurs dressing room with English players a little quieter.

Emerson added that Son ‘acts Brazilian’ because he is so vocal, joking that he is a ‘fake Korean’.

The Brazilian, speaking to R7 and as translated by the London Evening Standard, added that Spaniard Pedro Porro likes to join in with the South Americans, creating an interesting dressing room vibe.

“Our locker room is a little different,” said Emerson. “Everyone has a personality, there are people who are more relaxed, there are people who enjoy being more playful. South Americans talk louder, the English are calmer. They like silence more.”

“But the most vocal is Son. I say he’s a fake Korean, he acts Brazilian! The South Americans, [Cristian] Romero, Bentancur, Pedro Porro too, who is Spanish. We interact a lot, play music. Each one has their own characteristics, but we always try to bring a different joy into the locker room.

Tottenham thriving under Son captaincy

Son has been a vital player for Tottenham for a long time now and it was great to see Postecoglou recognise his importance with the captaincy.

Tottenham have certainly made a fine start to the season with Son as captain.

Tottenham sit top of the Premier League table having dropped just four points so far this season with Son playing a key role.

It seemingly isn’t just the goals; Son is clearly popular inside the Tottenham dressing room and Emerson’s feelings are probably echoed through the Spurs group.

Whether it’s leading in the dressing room or on the pitch with his performances, Son has really stepped up this season and Tottenham fans will hope it continues.
