Tottenham Hotspur transfer

Emerson joined Tottenham from Barcelona on summer transfer deadline day.

Barcelona exercised their option to bring Emerson from Real Betis only this summer, but the Spanish giants still sold him to Tottenham.

Emerson speaks out

Emerson told Marca about his exit from Barcelona: “I met the leaders of the club.

“They began to tell me that the club’s situation was not good, that it was going through a difficult time and that it was better for them to sell.

“I repeated to them that my intention was to stay because I had the dream of playing here and contributing things to Barcelona.

“I knew that if I was in my best shape, I was going to succeed here. I am smart and there came a time when I realised that they were telling me to go. They were kicking me out with very good words.”

The Brazilian added: “Now I am happy because I am totally focused on Tottenham and with the idea of succeeding there. They have a project for me. They have given me the love I deserve and that is why I am going there with great enthusiasm.”

Would Emerson Royal make Tottenham better?

Emerson is a very talented and promising young defender who is only 22 years of age.

Yes, Barcelona sold the Brazilian this summer, but that was manly due to financial problems at the club.

Emerson will give Tottenham a very good option at right-back.

Japhet Tanganga, Matt Doherty and Emerson are the three right-backs in the Tottenham squad now.

Tottenham have won all three of their Premier League games so far this season and are challenging for the Champions League places in the league table.
