According to a report from The Sun, Rangers are interested in bringing Bournemouth midfielder Emerson Hyndman back to Ibrox on loan for the rest of the season as the Scottish Premiership side continue their brilliant January transfer window.

The Gers have already brought in four players on loan, and re-signing Hyndman would surely be a great deal after he showed a lot of potential during his time with the club, especially as he was there during a time of real uncertainty.

A general view of Ibrox Stadium is seen ahead of the EURO 2016 Qualifier match between Scotland and Georgia at Ibrox Stadium on October 11, 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The American was signed during Mark Warburton’s tenure, then worked under Graeme Murty and remained there for the opening months of Pedro Caixinha’s ill-fated tenure.

It was probably during Murty’s brief caretaker spell that Hyndman arguably showed his very best form, and based on some comments he made during his previous loan spell – that were reported by Herald Scotland – it may not be out of the question to suggest that the 21-year-old will relish the chance to work under the 43-year-old again.

“He’s been brilliant. It’s always a tough position as a kind of interim manager. Especially with the way things have gone,” he said about Murty, as reported by Herald Scotland in March 2017.

“I credit him for coming in and establishing what he wants us to do. I think the boys got behind him quite well.”

Hyndman certainly showed some real glimpses of quality during his time at Ibrox, and Murty will be desperate to see him build on that if he does return as he could prove to be a brilliant addition.

And having struggled once again to break into the Bournemouth side in the months since his return from Ibrox, he will certainly arrive with a point to prove to his parent club. And perhaps working under a coach he clearly has a huge amount of faith in will help him make that statement.
