Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Lucien Favre suddenly changed his mind on a move to Crystal Palace.
What’s the story?
Well, while Tottenham sat down with Nuno Espirito Santo to talk Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, the Eagles looked to be closing in on Favre.
However, the 63-year-old performed a shock U-turn, deciding that he wants a longer break before getting back into management (The Athletic).
Now, the Eagles are back to square one, just like Spurs were when Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici surprisingly pulled the plug on Paulo Fonseca.
The reaction from Tottenham fans below has mainly been one of relatability, as the north Londoners unite with the south Londoners.
Both clubs have made a horrible mess of their managerial hunts.
Why weren’t Tottenham in for Lucien Favre?
If Tottenham were willing to go as low as hiring Gennaro Gattuso, why didn’t Levy consider Favre at some point?
The Swiss coach has an abundance of Champions League experience, and have overseen 796 games in management.
Favre also has a track record of developing young gems – like Marco Reus – while playing an attractive style of football.
The Guardian revealed Everton expressed some interest, but there has been no link whatsoever from Tottenham’s end.
It really is quite baffling.
Now, it looks like Crystal Palace will be reassessing the credentials of Frank Lampard, Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche.
