Arsenal’s latest social media stunt is clever, but it hasn’t gone down well with some rival supporters.
It’s 16 years to the day since the Gunners cemented their place in Premier League history by winning the 2003-04 campaign without losing a game.
On May 15 in 2004, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal came from behind to beat Leicester City 2-1 at Highbury to make it 26 wins, 12 draws and zero defeats that season.
In remembrance of the achievement, which hasn’t been matched by any top-flight English side since, the club’s official Twitter account removed the L from their name, referencing the fact that there were no losses.
It’s a quirky and innocuous way to highlight the achievement, but some non-Arsenal fans on Twitter haven’t reacted well to the stunt.
