Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after stumbling across a Tottenham supporters group’s plans ahead of tomorrow’s game.
What’s the story?
Well, one supporters group named The Echo of Glory called on the Tottenham fans travelling to Tyneside to do one thing.
The Echo of Glory are buying fake money to throw down from the away end at St James’ Park tomorrow, following the Saudi takeover.
The group tweeted that 300 fake notes can be bought for £30 from Amazon, and revealed they’d be throwing the ‘money’ at kick-off, full-time, and when a goal is scored.
It comes after Newcastle were taken over by Amanda Staveley, Jamie Reuben and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.
The consortium is unbelievably worth £320bn. Yes, billion.
Regardless of PIF’s net worth, this is still a little bit embarrassing from The Echo of Glory.
Tottenham shouldn’t embarrass themselves at Newcastle
Sunday will be Newcastle’s day. A celebration of Mike Ashley’s departure, and every home fan will once again be full of hope and optimism.
Even if they don’t agree with the takeover, Spurs fans would embarrass themselves by throwing fake money onto the pitch in an attempt to spoil things.
Firstly, it’s a bit of an own goal to spend £30 of actual money on fake money.
Additionally, it’s would be quite rich – pardon the pun – of Spurs fans to do this, when their club signed up to the elitist nonsense that was the Super League earlier this year.
Furthermore, it would be even more hypocritical, as it’s been said that Daniel Levy offered to sell Spurs to Saudi Arabian investors for £2.5bn (Shields Gazette).
Simply put, Tottenham fans shouldn’t bother doing this.
