‘Embarrassing’: Some Newcastle fans annoyed by what Steve Bruce said about Harry Kane

Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to express their annoyance at how Steve Bruce reacted after hearing Harry Kane wants to leave Tottenham.

The Magpies boss chose to joke about luring the man with 165 Premier League goals to Tyneside.

Bruce even added that he asked Kane if he fancied wearing Newcastle’s famous No.9 shirt.

Some fans below felt that was a bit disrespectful to Joelinton, who currently owns the No.9 shirt at St James’ Park.

In our view, the outcry below is a bit over the top.

We completely understand that Newcastle fans want to see their manager be a bit more ambitious.

After all, there were days where the Magpies would be a potential destination for a player like Kane.

However, there’s not really much wrong with Bruce’s answer.

Plenty of Premier League managers up and down the country were being asked about Kane today.

It’s always difficult for managers to answer questions about players from other clubs – it can often be viewed as disrespectful.

Bruce choosing to make light of what is a tough situation for Tottenham was a reasonable response – the Newcastle fans below are certainly exaggerating somewhat.
