Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Andros Townsend appeared to aim a subtle dig at Mohamed Salah.

What’s the story?

Well, Townsend made the comment when discussing whether Harry Kane dived against Denmark last night.

Speaking on talkSPORT to a Liverpool fan who was criticising Kane for playacting, Townsend said the following.

“And is there a Liverpool player who maybe goes down a little easier than he should…?”

Now, he obviously doesn’t name the Liverpool player in question.

However, the only one of Jürgen Klopp’s men with a strong reputation for diving is Salah, so we feel it’s safe to assume.

Even Graeme Souness – a man with a strong association to Liverpool – has accused the Egyptian of playacting in the past.

Sadly, that’s how it is nowadays

Time and time again, we watch players stay on their feet after a blatant foul, before losing the ball and getting no benefit for their honesty.

In that respect, it’s no wonder players are throwing themselves to ground every week in the modern era.

With VAR involved, officials must be brave enough to give penalties, even if the victim of the foul decides to try and ride it out.

If we keep punishing players for their honesty, football will simply be filled with cheats who try to con the officials at every chance they get.

For now, let’s see how the Liverpool fans on Twitter reacted to Townsend’s subtle dig at Salah…
