Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that Leigh Griffiths had signed a new one-year contract at Parkhead.
What’s the story?
Well, the Celtic fans below certainly aren’t happy with this news.
The 30-year-old endured a tough 2020/21 campaign, which was full of injury problems and poor form.
In total, Griffiths only scored seven goals in 26 appearances.
The ex-Wolves forward suffered calf strains, and in struggling to get himself fit again, could only make small cameos during games.
In fact, Griffiths didn’t actually complete 90 minutes once last season, as Transfermarkt shows.
In that respect, you can understand why supporters are baffled after seeing him rewarded with a new one-year contract.
Clean slate under Ange Postecoglou?

The only explanation for this decision is that Ange Postecoglou wants to take a closer look at the 22-cap Scotland international.
In fairness, you can understand if that is the case.
Griffiths has scored 123 goals in 262 appearances for Celtic in total, so he clearly knows where the goal is.

Admittedly, he found last term challenging.
However, if Postecoglou can help Griffiths rediscover his old form, re-signing him might prove to be a masterstroke.
For now, let’s see what the Celtic fans on Twitter have been saying about the news…
