Glasgow Rangers forward Kenny Miller has faced a turbulent recent spell at Ibrox, and Lee Naylor has not held back in his criticism of Pedro Caixinha.
Lee Naylor has told the Daily Record that the current situation surrounding Kenny Miller and Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha is embarrassing, and insisted that the veteran forward is no bad egg.
It has been a turbulent time for the 37-year-old at Ibrox recently. The Record reports that Miller was briefly exiled from the first-team after Caixinha alluded to a dressing room mole – though it has not actually been confirmed that Miller was the player Caixinha suspected – and while he was brought back into the fold ahead of the clash with St Johnstone, he was left out of the game with the Portuguese insisting that he had an injury.
The Record adds that sources close to Miller have refuted the suggestion and the forward’s agent has hit out at Caixinha, and now Naylor – who played alongside Miller at Wolves and Celtic – has slammed the suggestion that Miller has created the problem and even argued that the manager may actually fear the striker.
“Kenny has always been someone to speak his mind but only a positive way and he’s intelligent enough to go about it in the right way.
“I don’t know exactly what has gone on but I can’t imagine Kenny being a bad egg and it’s embarrassing the way it’s dragged on.
“You would have to ask the manager why the club haven’t cleared up the situation but I’m sure Kenny is going in every day and training as hard as he ever would.”
It is undoubtedly an ugly situation that may perhaps only clear itself up when both Caixinha and Miller publicly explain what has happened in full – which, of course, is incredibly unlikely to happen.
It certainly appears from the outside that something has to give. And it could undoubtedly be argued that the situation is proving detrimental to Rangers’ hopes of establishing themselves as a force, on the pitch, in Scottish football once again.
And perhaps, the way that the problem concludes may have a considerable impact on whether the Gers manage to get themselves back on the right track anytime soon.
