Phil Thompson was a bit nonplussed by what the West Ham United attacker said.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Phil Thompson has slammed West Ham United winger Michail Antonio for his ’embarrassing’ comments.
During an interview with Sky Sports, the West Ham ace admitted that he and his team-mates were complacent, arguing that their win over Arsenal last month gave Manuel Pellegrini’s side a false sense of where they were at.
Antonio, who was on the losing side against AFC Wimbledon and Wolves recently, said: “Complacency creeps in because when you play a top-six team, you know you’re in a game.
“You know if you’re not on form, they’re going to run over you. When you play a team around you, you’re thinking ‘Oh we’ve beaten Arsenal so we could very likely beat this team today’:
And suffice to say that Thompson wasn’t pleased with what the Irons man said at all.
Thompson told Sky Sports on Saturday: “I think it’s embarrassing that he’s saying that about his own team, about his own players.
“He’s saying here that playing against the top six they always turn up. Well, there’s more games against the rest of the teams than there is against that top six so unless you do your business you’ll struggle.”
West Ham are blowing very hot and cold at the moment, but Monday’s clash with Premier League leaders Liverpool could be massive.
If Pellegrini’s side can beat the Reds in East London then it could inspire the team, reinvigorate them for the rest of a mediocre campaign, all things considered.
But a heavy defeat and the Hammers players might find themselves treading water.
