Jose Enrique has called Liverpool’s rumoured transfer push for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia ‘embarrassing’.
The former Liverpool left-back stated on his Instagram story that he ‘couldn’t agree more’ with Jamie Carragher’s assessment of the situation.
The Reds legend made it clear ‘if you don’t think he is worth £50 million move on’, or just put the money down on the table for the 19-year-old – Jadon Sancho dubbed the player ‘very special’ (Daily Mail).
Last Friday, Romeo Lavia was left on the bench as Southampton beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 for their opening Championship game.
And this Tuesday evening, he wasn’t even in the squad for Russell Martin side’s League Cup trip to Gillingham, in the meanwhile, James Ward-Prowse, who is also attracting transfer interest, is playing.
Either way, Enrique doesn’t like what’s happening and he pointed the finger directly at Liverpool’s owners, FSG.

“Couldn’t agree more with Carra here,” said Enrique. “It’s embarrassing this from FSG. Every summer transfer window, the same story.”

Can Liverpool battle for the PL title?
That’s going to be the aim and that’s what fans will be expecting they do ahead of the new Premier League season.
The only issue is that does Jurgen Klopp has the tools to do so, especially against a Treble-winning machine in Manchester City and an ever-improving Arsenal side?
Mohamed Salah scored a healthy number of goals last season, yet they didn’t secure Champions League football.
So, even with his magic, the same could happen again, which should be a worry because that midfield is an area of concern.
