Liverpool fans have been wound up by Everton striker Richarlison, after he posted a well-timed photo of his celebration after scoring at Anfield.

Richarlison made headlines yesterday, when he suggested that Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara wouldn’t look at him, despite making an apology.

He said to Thiago Asmar on Youtube: “The last game I made that challenge on Thiago and got sent off. My goodness. Then I went on Instagram to apologise and such. He only saw it. I said ‘I’m going to delete this message too, since he doesn’t want to reply’. Then I went there and deleted it.

“He didn’t answer, no. Then there was the derby now, at their home, he didn’t look at my face, I didn’t look at him, either. The game goes on. He ignored the pigeon.”

Those comments seemed to irk some Liverpool fans, and although he didn’t reference the reaction in his latest social media post, it’s probably fair to say that Richarlison may just have been hoping to wind up Everton’s rivals a little bit more.

If that was his intention, his Twitter post seemed to work, as Liverpool fans hit back at him.

Everton’s win over Liverpool at Anfield this season was their first since 1999.

It has helped propel Everton into a strong position in the table.

Everton are now in eighth place and locked on points with Liverpool, although they do have a game in hand over Jurgen Klopp’s side.
