Adam Lallana has shared that he has been left shocked by how good the ‘phenomenal’ Luis Diaz has been for Liverpool, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
But the Brighton midfielder admitted that he is ’embarrassed’ to say, but he had never heard about the Colombian winger before he joined Liverpool.
During the January transfer window, the Reds knocked on Porto’s door and added Diaz to their already-lethal attacking ranks.
Within a week, Diaz was dazzling on the Wembley stage, making no-look passes like he was trialling for a club managed by Brazil legend, Ronaldinho.
Either way, Lallana has been seriously impressed by what Diaz has brought to the table, as he shared his thoughts on the player.
“I still can’t believe how well Diaz has settled,” said Lallana. “Having been a player that has gone to Liverpool and knowing how difficult it was to settle.
“I am not sure what Diaz’s English is like. But, coming from a different country in January, and to play the way he has played, is absolutely phenomenal.
“To put in the performances that he has, in Europe and high-pressure games in the final, I was at Wembley. To see how he performed. I think he was Liverpool’s best player. Most dynamic.
“I actually feel a little embarrassed that I hadn’t heard about him before. That just shows the level of recruitment at Liverpool. They have been spot on in that kind of £50 million bracket. With Salah, Mane, Firmino and Jota. They have just got it right.”

Well, Lallana is going to get a taste of what Diaz is about because his Brighton side will welcome Liverpool to the Amex at the weekend.
For Graham Potter and his players, it’s probably the wrong time to play the Merseyside club because their form has just hit a brick wall.
Either way, it will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp juggles his forward line.
Diogo Jota started their midweek Champions League tie against Inter Milan, so Diaz might just end up on the bench with Sadio Mane, Jota and Mo Salah looking to cause havoc instead.
