The goalkeeper has been linked with a summer switch to Everton but he is keeping his feet on the ground.

Alleged Everton target Eloy Room has been speaking to Der Gelderlander about his future, and he has admitted that he tries not to pay attention to the rumours circulating at this time of year.

Earlier this month the Liverpool Echo claimed Everton manager Ronald Koeman wanted to bring the Vitesse Arnhem player to Goodison Park in a bargain deal as a replacement for Joel Robles.

The player allegedly has a £1.5million release clause in his contract and is seen as a backup to new Everton stopper Jordan Pickford. However Room is trying not to be affected by the rumour mill at this time.

“It’s very simple, I have a contract with Vitesse,” Room told Der Gelderlander. “I also read all the stuff in the media and hear the news, but I honestly do not care so much. That only takes me out of my concentration and that is not my intention.”

The report claims the 28-year-old recently rejected a new contract offer from the Dutch club and, with just a year remaining on his current deal, now could be the ideal time for Everton to make their move if they are indeed interested.

Room has featured 155 times for Vitesse, keeping 43 clean sheets in the process, and he has also turned out 17 times for his country Curacao.

Whether he would be willing to play second fiddle to Pickford at Everton next season remains to be seen, but if he dreams of a move to the Premier League, this could be his chance.
