According to a report from Sky Sports, Arsenal are interested in signing Chelsea’s Jorginho this summer.
Midfield is an area that Mikel Arteta is looking to strengthen in this summer’s window. Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil’s Arsenal careers look over, while Mohamed Elneny, who has played very well recently, isn’t the long-term answer.
As a result, the Gunners are exploring their options in the transfer market, and two big names have been reported as Arsenal’s top targets in the middle of the park this summer.
Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates. The Ghanaian midfielder is reportedly open to joining Arteta’s side, but his £45 million release clause is proving to be a big problem for Arsenal (Telegraph).
Houssem Aouar is another player Arsenal are trying hard to sign. The Frenchman is one of the most exciting attacking midfielders in Europe, but Lyon’s £54 million asking price remains the stumbling block (L’Equipe).
Arsenal are looking at backup options in case they fail in their pursuit of their top targets. Partey would certainly be a stunning addition to Arteta’s squad but, if he can’t be signed, the Gunners will reportedly look at Jorginho.

Arteta came close to signing the Italian when he was at Manchester City alongside Pep Guardiola back in 2018. Jorginho snubbed a move to the Etihad to join Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea, but the current Arsenal boss could well get his wish now.
Arsenal fans have been dreaming of Partey for months. The Ghanaian is the preferred option at the Emirates, and the reported interest in Jorginho has not gone down well with supporters.
