Mohamed Elneny has stated in three words ‘what a player’ as Arsenal loanee Hector Bellerin started life at Real Betis with a 2-1 win at Granada on Monday night, as he posted on the official Europa League Instagram page.
On transfer deadline day, Arsenal parted ways with their right-back, who headed back to his home country on a temporary basis.
Life may have been tough in North London for Bellerin, and it still is for those still at the club, but it’s started off in a bright fashion in La Liga.
Bellerin played the entire game for his new side, who needed a late goal from Sergio Canales for them to leave the South of Spain with all three points.
Now, on Thursday night, whilst there is no Europe for Arsenal.
Bellerin will be competing in the Europa League and will face-off against Scottish Premiership side Celtic on Thursday night.
The Europa League’s official Instagram account posted about Bellerin winning on his league debut, and questioning how his team might fair this season, as Elneny then issued his three-word response of ‘what a player’.
It’s going to be interesting to see how Bellerin fares at Betis and whether he can fulfil that early promise he showcased at Arsenal.
The 26-year-old burst onto the scene as a teenager, with such raw pace and ability that it was exciting supporters as to how far he could take his game.
Bellerin lacked that consistency to his game and end product in the final third, but there was still hope.
But for several years now, his form has gone down the drain and the right call was made for him to move on.
Regardless of how Bellerin fares at Betis, it would be a surprise if Arsenal continues with him because there doesn’t seem to be a future for him even though he is still on their books.
