Arsenal have been dealt a blow ahead of this weekend’s game with Leeds United, as Mohamed Elneny will miss the game at Elland Road.

Elneny is away on international duty with Egypt, and has fallen victim to the global pandemic, meaning he will be ruled out against Leeds.

With Thomas Partey still nursing a knock too, Mikel Arteta’s midfield option have suffered a major hit ahead of the trip to West Yorkshire.

Arteta also needs to think about adding some more attacking thrust and creativity to his side, having turned in a dismal performance in the 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa before the international break.

This may now give Joe Willock a chance to shine, having so far failed to play a single Premier League minute so far this season.

The 21-year-old has though impressed in the Europa League, registering two goals and one assist in his last two outings against Dundalk and Molde.

The level of competition maybe isn’t on a par with the Premier League, but Willock now deserves a chance to show that he can provide what Arsenal need, whilst he also has the energy and mobility to deal with Leeds’ pressing play.

Arsenal fans have been discussing the situation on Twitter, believing that Willock should be given the chance to start after Elneny’s blow was confirmed.

Some think it’s Willock’s time to shine, urging Arteta to give him a chance alongside Partey if he’s fit, with Willock’s Europa League form attracting real support.
