Ahmed Elmohamady has told the Hull Daily Mail that he had other offers from other clubs before deciding to stay with Hull City.

The Egyptian international signed a new contract with the Tigers yesterday, agreeing an extension that will run until 2019.

The former Sunderland defender joined Hull City from the Black Cats back in 2012, originally on loan before making the switch permanent for a fee thought to be in the region of £2 million.

Elmohamady joined Hull four years ago

He has since become a fixture in Steve Bruce’s Hull side, making over 180 appearances for the club, and despite increased competition for his position due to the arrival of Robert Snodgrass, he remains a valued member of the Tigers squad.

And he has revealed that whilst Hull City were always his first choice, he did have offers from elsewhere posed to him.

“I had a couple of offers but always in my mind Hull was the first choice for me and when it came down to it, it was an easy decision to make,” Elmohamady told the Hull Daily Mail.

“It took a couple of weeks because I was away with family and there were a couple of things to discuss with my agent, but the first thing in my mind was always to sign for Hull.

“I am looking forward to the challenge and hopefully the next three years will be as good as the last four years

“For me, the last four years has been the best football I have played in my career and it was an easy decision to stay here another three years.”

Hull City’s Tom Huddlestone is in contract negotiations

Hull were able to offer terms to the high waged Elmohamady due to their achievement of promotion and the subsequent financial windfall this entailed.

Previously, the prospect of missing on a return to the Premier League had cast doubt over the future of the Egyptian and also England midfielder Tom Huddlestone, with the threat of Financial Fair Play coming into force after a season in the English second tier.

The Tigers are currently still in negotiations with Huddlestone over a new contract, with his current deal set to expire next week.
