Wolves’ achievement to match City for 120 minutes was incredible though, and Bennett and Stearman both praised their former side’s display.
Wolves are the first team to manage to shut City out at the Etihad Stadium since April, with Pep Guardiola’s men simply unable to break down the Championship leader’s defence.
Wolves’ achievement was made all the more remarkable by the fact that Nuno rotated his squad for the contest.
City named a strong line-up, with many of their first-team stars featuring, but Wolves’ fringe players did remarkably well to hold on.
Wolves even had chances to win the tie, but they were unable to take them, and were eventually made to pay.
Wolves’ attention will now return to Championship matters, with Nuno’s side next in action against Queens Park Rangers.
