Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing what David Luiz did to Patrick Bamford earlier this season.
As revealed by the £10 million Leeds striker on That Peter Crouch Podcast, he was roughed up a bit by the Brazilian.
When asked which defenders he’d come across who enjoyed the dark arts, Bamford said: “I kicked him on the ankle (accidentally) & was like ‘sorry bro’ and he said ‘don’t worry, don’t worry it’s fine’. He was chatting to me (like a brother). Next time I got the ball he absolutely clattered me and trampled over the back of my legs.”
Now, this doesn’t surprise us in the slightest.
Luiz – an £8 million signing by Unai Emery – does have that bite to his game that we traditionally see in South American footballers.
From our point of view, we love to see it in forwards such as Carlos Tevez and Luiz Suarez, and we’re equally big fans of defenders showing that feisty side to their game.

Letting a striker know he’s in for a physical battle early on could distract them mentally, and give the defender the upper hand in their personal battle.
In this case, it seems to have worked, if that was what Luiz was trying to do.
Bamford failed to score against Arsenal in both meetings with the Gunners this season.
He drew a blank in the 0-0 draw at Elland Road, while it was Pascal Struijk and Helder Costa who scored for Leeds at the Emirates Stadium.

Some Arsenal fans loved hearing what Luiz had done.
One conceded that the Brazilian is ‘a bit of a donut’ at times, but also a quality centre-back who they wish was a few years younger.
Another said that Luiz’s actions prove he has an ‘elite mentality’.
Let’s see what some more Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about what he did to Bamford…
