Speaking on TalkSPORT’s GameDay Podcast, Trevor Sinclair has been discussing reported Tottenham target Antonio Rudiger after his showing against Leeds at the weekend.

Rudiger was at the centre of quite a bit of controversy this weekend. He went down rather easily for a penalty against the Whites, while he was also one of the main antagonists as tensions boiled over after the game.

Sinclair claims that Rudiger is the type of player you either love or you hate.

What’s been said about Rudiger?

Sinclair gave his view on Rudiger’s antics at the weekend.

“Going back to Rudiger though. He’s like marmite, you either love him or you hate him. He’s a disrupter, he’s a leveller, he puts himself about and he uses his physicality, but you can’t have both. You can’t be that type of player and then go down so softly for a penalty,” Sinclair said.

Would be a fan favourite

Sinclair says that Rudiger is like marmite, but we can imagine that fans of his team absolutely love him while rivals hate him.

Yes, he can get embroiled in controversy and he’s well-versed in the dark arts of football, but that’s part of why he’s so brilliant.

There’s a reason he’s one of the most important players in the European champions’ squad, and if he ended up at Tottenham, we can imagine it wouldn’t take long for Spurs fans to take to him.

Whether or not he goes to Spurs remains to be seen, but it has to be said that he’d be a great fit for Antonio Conte’s side.
