Leeds United lost against Liverpool in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.

Eirik Bakke said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, December 2, 2016) that Leeds United’s performance against Liverpool earlier this week was one of the best in many years.

Leeds took on Premier League outfit Liverpool away from home in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.

The Whites suffered a 2-0 defeat at Anfield, but the performance of Garry Monk’s side was encouraging.

The game was goalless until the 76th minute, and the Leeds players can be proud of their display.

Former Leeds midfielder Bakke has praised the performance of the West Yorkshire outfit against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday evening.

“The game on Tuesday, I think it was the best I have seen from Leeds for many years,” said Bakke on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, December 2, 2016).

Leeds are playing well at the moment and have become genuine playoff contenders under Monk.

The former Swansea City manager was appointed the head coach at Elland Road in the summer.

The Englishman has done a good job at the Whites so far this season, and the fans should be optimistic of a top-six finish in the Championship.

Leeds will take on Aston Villa at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday evening.
