Well, Rangers have just booked their place in the final of the Europa League.
John Lundstram scored in the 80th minute as Rangers beat Red Bull Leipzig 3-1 at Ibrox and 3-2 overall, having lost the first leg 1-0 in Germany last Thursday.
It’s quite a momentous achievement for a club that weren’t even in Scotland’s top flight this time seven years ago.
But ever since Mark Warburton got Rangers promoted back into the Scottish Premiership, the light Blues have been steadily climbing and this is one hell of a milestone.
The final will take place in Seville on May 18 and Giovani van Bronckhorst’s side will take on Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Germans comfortably beat West Ham United 3-1 on aggregate to book a showdown with Rangers in two weeks.
And here’s how the Bundesliga outfit’s president, Peter Fischer, reacted to hearing that it’ll be his side against the Glasgow giants for the showpiece, describing the latter as a ‘traditional team’.
He told RTL Sport in Germany: “Now to the final against Glasgow. Traditional team against traditional team. Tremendous!”
Rangers are indeed are a traditional team – and a very good one.
In fact, Van Bronckhorst’s troops might well be favourites against Frankfurt.
That’s because Rangers have already beaten Borussia Dortmund and now Leipzig en route to the final.
And both of those clubs are much higher than Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga standings.
They’re 11th in the table, nine places below second-placed Dortmund and six below Leipzig in fifth position.
The last time Rangers were in a European final, Zenit St Petersburg were favourites – and rightly so because they beat the Gers on that occasion back in 2008.
But now, there isn’t much to fear for the Scots considering who they’ve already beaten to get here.
