Douglas Luiz has shared on Instagram that he had ‘eight paracetamols’ the day before Aston Villa’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Aston Villa midfielder started his side’s narrow win against the ten-men of Palace, which saw Joachim Andersen score a first-half own goal after an outstanding low cross from Matty Cash when he was brilliantly fed through down the channel by the rejuvenated, John McGinn.
During Villa’s last two home games, not only have they opened the scoring, but they have also taken the lead twice, only to lose those matches at an aggregate of 8-4.

But this recent encounter was far more controlled by Unai Emery’s men, even if the Villa fans wanted some more attacking intent when on the ball.
Luiz, who has been an outstanding and consistent performer since Emery’s arrival, played a huge part in that, alongside his now usual double-pivot role with Boubacar Kamara, who went off with a worrying injury after a reckless challenge from Cheick Doucoure in the second half.
Nonetheless, the preparation from Luiz, for yesterday’s game, was an interesting one, as he shared on social media.
DOUGLAS LUIZ COOKING UNDER EMERY
Back in the summer, with Luiz’s contract running down, there was a lot of talk about the Brazil star’s future, with the now high-flying Arsenal knocking on the player’s door.
In the end, he stayed put and signed a new deal, which has proven to be a masterstroke from the club because he has been outstanding.
Luiz has, especially, produced the goods under Emery, alongside Kamara.
And given the Frenchman’s recent injury, fans will be worried that it’s not another setback for the player because the tackle from Doucoure was red card worthy.
