Greg Taylor produced a stunning performance from left-back for Celtic on Wednesday night, as the Hoops secured a crucial win over rivals Rangers in the race for the Premiership title. His stats prove just as much.
Taylor, 24, has been in and out of the Celtic side this season – with injury also ruling him out for 10 league games between September and the start of December. He was handed a start against Rangers on Wednesday night.
It was just the Scotland international’s third start in Celtic’s last seven Premiership games. But despite that inconsistent form throughout the campaign, Taylor was stunning on the left side of the defence.
Perhaps a surprise inclusion given the form of Anthony Ralston and the versatility of Josip Juranovic, Taylor arguably produced the performance of his Celtic spell – which has now spanned 68 games since joining in 2019.
Taylor stats: Celtic star gives Postecoglou a reminder with outing
WhoScored report that Taylor produced far more tackles than any of his teammates, with a huge total of eight. Indeed, the entirety of his Celtic teammates amassed 14 tackles – Taylor himself got a huge eight.
That is an incredible total. The ex-Kilmarnock star also produced far more interceptions than any other Celtic player on Wednesday night, a whopping five. The combined total of all of his teammates was 10.
Three clearances and 24 of 32 passes completed successfully are other eye-catching stats from a memorable display. Taylor has given Postecoglou a reminder – he can be Celtic’s long-term answer on the left side of defence.
