Sky Sports pundit, David Prutton, says that the fixture has got the makings of a classic play-off encounter.
It is not a popular Yorkshire derby, but the fixture still promises to be a cracker, mainly because of what is at stake.
Huddersfield finished fifth in the Championship, one point above Fulham, but they may peaked early this season.
Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner
David Wagner’s side have managed only three wins in their last 10 games and lost six.
The Huddersfield manager, who has been recently linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, will hope that his side picks up their form at the right time. His reputation will be enhanced further if he can guide his team to Wembley.
Sheffield Wednesday on the other hand have finished fourth in the Championship, are on same points with Huddersfield, and only separated by goal difference.
Prutton believes that Wednesday, with their experience and added depth within the squad, could edge their rivals over the two-legged tie.
The Sky pundit is absolutely convinced that the tie will go down to the final stages of the second-leg, He predicts a 1-1 draw.
“Huddersfield find themselves in a similar position to what Wednesday were in last season: wide eyed and not knowing what to expect from these types of matches. That could be a big positive,” said Prutton to Sky Sports.
“However, Wednesday, with their experience and the added strength in depth within their squad, could have the edge in that regard.
“This tie will go down to the final stages of the second-leg, so I’m firmly on the fence for Sunday’s clash.”
