The former Celtic defender is delighted to see his old teammate back at Celtic.
Forster returned to the Hoops during the summer transfer window on a season-long loan deal from Southampton.
Since then he’s established himself as the number one choice between the sticks for Neil Lennon, starting the majority of matches ahead of Craig Gordon and the injured Scott Bain.
The highlight of that spell so far was his display in the Europa League at home Lazio, a performance which recalled some of his previous performances in Europe for the club before his switch to Saints.
Ambrose was part of the defensive line for some of those matches and is enjoying seeing once again perform to a high standard in continental football.
As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said: “Fraser is incredible, one of the best keepers in Europe. When I saw him make those saves against Lazio, all I could think about was Barcelona.
“In Europe, Fraser has always stepped up and made a big difference to Celtic. He is a great man and a great keeper. I’m so happy he is back at the club.”
Difference-maker
Ambrose’s comments about him being one of the best in Europe are perhaps a little bold, but there’s no denying that the goalkeeper has once again proven to be a difference-maker for his club at that level.
After a period of inaction at Southampton, there were question marks about the player’s ability to play consistently and confidently, but Neil Lennon appears to have gotten the best out of him once again.
Tonight’s trip to Rome to face Lazio could well be his stiffest test of the season, but if he can stand up the threat of the Serie A side in the same manner as two weeks ago then Celtic will have a chance to pick up a positive result, whether it be a draw or a victory.
Can he delight Celtic fans and his former teammate, Ambrose, again? It’s set to be a fascinating evening.
