The Celtic defender has been speaking about next season.

Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has been speaking to Africanfootball.com about his hopes for the future.

The 26-year-old has helped Ronny Deila’s side win a domestic double this season, with the Scottish League Cup triumph followed by success in the Scottish Premiership last weekend.

Aberdeen’s defeat to Dundee United ensured the Bhoys could not be caught at the top of the table and Ambrose has been reflecting on that glory.

“I am very happy to win the league once again, all glory be to God who made it possible,” the Nigerian said. “I am dedicating it to my mum.

Ambrose has made 41 appearances for Celtic so far this season, providing five assists in that time.

Although predominantly a centre-back he has also played as both a left-back and a right-back in recent times, that versatility marking him out as an important part of Deila’s squad.

But having secured his second piece of silverware this season, Ambrose is already looking forward to the upcoming Champions League adventure.

“I have won all the available trophies in Scotland,” he said, “my next target is to replicate this success in European competition. I want to help my team make this happen.”

Celtic certainly have the players to make a good go of next season’s Champions League, with the upcoming qualifying matches vital to Deila’s second year in charge.
