The future of two of Celtic’s centre-backs remain uncertain on deadline day as Efe Ambrose and Erik Sviatchenko weigh up their options.
Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has played down suggestions that he could move to Hibernian, OwnGoalNigeria reports, but has hinted at a deadline day exit.
Brendan Rodgers did not wait around to exclude the Nigerian international from his first team plans this season and few Celtic supporters will have been disappointed by the fact that he has not made a single league appearance all season.
Celtic fans have a warning for Wolves with Efe Ambrose linked to the Championship club
After all, Ambrose’s penchant for amateur mistakes in crucial encounters, particularly in Europe, is well established, his mistakes costing the Scottish champions dear on a number of occasions.

However, the 28-year-old has ruled out the prospect of a reunion with former gaffer Neil Lennon at second division outfit Hibs even if he admits that he may not be a Celtic player after the transfer deadline.
“It’s not true am not joining Hibernian but I know where I am going soon. You guys should be patient very soon it will be public knowledge”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.
Sky Sports reported that Ambrose had been offered a two-year deal by Ligue 1 strugglers Bastia earlier in the month while European regulars Olympiakos and Schalke have been linked in the past.
Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers gives pointed reminder to Premier League-linked ace
It certainly appeared that Ambrose has no future at Parkhead, especially after Dedryck Boyata appeared to force his way back into Rodgers’ plans after a sequence of impressive performances in 2017.
However, the experienced centre-back added that there is a possibility that he could leave the club in the summer instead amid reports from the Scottish Sun’s that the agent of Erik Sviatchenko has jetted into Glasgow to discuss his client’s future amid interest from the Premier League.

The Danish defender’s impressive form appears to have caught the eye of a number of clubs south of the border and Rodgers surely is unlikely to sanction two defensive departures in one day, especially with so little time to target a replacement.
Therefore, Ambrose may be forced to endure another six months at Celtic Park.
