Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic reportedly want Hibernian’s John McGinn.

The future of John McGinn is wrapped up in uncertainty, with Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers and Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic among the clubs reportedly interested in the Hibernian midfielder.

Ibrox club Rangers and Leeds in the Championship in England are interested in McGinn, according to The Scottish Sun, while The Sun has claimed that Frank Lampard’s Derby County want to secure the services of the Scotland international midfielder.

Celtic, though, seem to be taking the lead in the reported pursuit of McGinn. According to The Daily Record, the Glasgow giants already have had a bid of £1.5 million for the midfielder turned down by Hibernian, who are claimed to want £3m as transfer fee for the 23-year-old.

Hibernian defender Efe Ambrose has given his take on speculation linking McGinn with a move to his former club Celtic.

The former Celtic defender believes that McGinn will be a success at the Glasgow giants.

The agent of Hibernian manager Neil Lennon, Martin Reilly, has also given his take on McGinn, saying on social networking site Twitter that he would be a brilliant signing for Rodgers’s Celtic.

Ambrose told Capital City Press about McGinn: “I am not surprised to see Celtic come in for a player of John’s quality. It’s been in the papers for a long time.”

“I think John can make the step up,” added Ambrose. “He has the quality and the ability to succeed at Celtic.

“He knows the stature of the club so I don’t need to say much about it, but if he does get there then he will need to fight for his place because it’s not easy at a club like Celtic.”

Good signing for Celtic?

McGinn is one of the best midfielders in Scotland, and the 23-year-old would indeed be a brilliant signing for Celtic.

If £3m is all it takes for the Glasgow giants to secure one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership, then they should not hesitate to spend that money.
