Edwin van der Sar has responded to Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld’s post on Twitter following the match against Manchester City last night.
The former Manchester United goalkeeper has praised Alderweireld for a block he made during Tottenham’s 2-0 win against City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League.
The Belgium international central defender started the match and played well, but the 31-year-old had to be substituted after 81 minutes when he appeared to suffer a groin injury.
Alderweireld has made a post on Twitter after the win against City, and Van der Sar – who, like the Belgian, started his professional club football career at Ajax – has responded to it.
Positive result
Tottenham deservedly picked up all three points against City and will now start to believe that they can challenge for the Premier League title.
The North London outfit were defensively disciplined against Pep Guardiola’s side and scored two very good goals.
Spurs fans will hope that the injury to Alderweireld is not very serious, and that the defender recovers soon.
Tottenham are also aiming to win the Europa League this season.
