Liverpool have made some truly staggering profits while Michael Edwards has been their Director of Football.
For example, the Reds sold Dominic Solanke, Jordon Ibe, Mamadou Sakho and Christian Benteke for almost £90 million, which is really quite astonishing when you think about it.
And then there’s the £142 million sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona back in 2018.
Yep, Liverpool have a gem in the form of Edwards, someone capable of turning water into wine, and his next reported plan is quite impressive too.
According to The Irish Independent, Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a move to sign Ki-Jana Hoever and, if he joins the Molineux club, it’ll be for £10 million.
Hoever is a big talent coming through at Liverpool right now, but the 18-year-old doesn’t seem anywhere near being ready for Jurgen Klopp’s senior side at the moment.
They plucked him from Ajax’s academy in 2018 and only wound up paying a compensation fee of around £90,000 [The Echo].
So if Edwards can get a £10 million figure, for a player who hasn’t kicked a ball in the Premier League, then it has to be considered an unbelievable piece of business.
Here’s how Liverpool fans responded to potentially selling him:
Will the player be worth more than that in the future? Possibly, but only if he plays regular football and there are too many obstacles for that to happen under Klopp anytime soon.
Plus, Edwards is known to include sell-on clauses, so if Wolves were to sell the young Dutch defender for a big fee at some point in the future, Liverpool would be entitled to a cut of the spoils.
