Liverpool could be in the market for a new midfielder this summer, with Gini Wijnaldum set to leave the club for nothing as things stand.
The Dutchman is out of contract this summer, and with no new deal looking likely, Wijnaldum will leave a major hole in the Liverpool midfield.
Eurosport now claim that Liverpool are interested in snapping up Sheffield United ace Sander Berge, given that the Blades are set for relegation.
Berge is seen as an ‘obtainable option’ at a decent price, and Michael Edwards has shown in the past that he’s willing to sign relegated stars for Liverpool.
The 23-year-old is a huge presence at 6ft 5in tall, and his ability to play in a number of midfield role should appeal to Liverpool, as should his potential.
Berge has made no secret of his admiration for Liverpool in the past, having told TV2 last season that playing at Anfield was a ‘dream’ for him.

Berge was playing for Genkt at Anfield then, and admitted that he wanted to play at Liverpool’s home ‘as often as possible’ whilst noting his love for Virgil van Dijk having swapped shirts with him.
If Liverpool come calling for Berge this summer, it’s fair to say that he would jump at the chance to join Jurgen Klopp’s men, playing at Anfield regularly alongside Van Dijk.
