Dayot Upamecano had a big chance to send a message to Liverpool on Tuesday night.

But the Frenchman failed.

Liverpool came up against the Leipzig centre-back in last night’s Champions League clash in Germany.

It came days after Bayern Munich announced that they had signed the powerhouse in a £38 million deal, which will become official this summer.

One of several clubs to be heavily linked with the 22-year-old was Jurgen Klopp’s side, but he struggled in a big way against the Reds last night.

Liverpool beat the Bundesliga outfit 2-0 in the second-round Champions League tie and it was a sloppy, error-laden performance from Upamecano.

Here’s how some fans of the Anfield club reacted to his display on Twitter:

Liverpool still need a few central defenders this summer but this is a little premature from some of their supporters.

One poor game doesn’t mean that Upamecano won’t prove a roaring success at Bayern over the coming years and for £38 million, it might still prove to be an absolute bargain.
