Well, Jurgen Klopp’s first-ever signing for Liverpool remains on the club’s books for now.

Marko Grujic is still a Liverpool player but the Serbia international has joined Porto on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old midfielder has spent the past couple of seasons with Hertha Berlin but there were mild suggestions that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp could keep him in the senior squad this time around.

Grujic joined the Anfield club in January of 2016, becoming the German manager’s first addition since being appointed as Brendan Rodgers’s successor a few months earlier.

Interestingly, Klopp will still get to see how Grujic fares against elite Premier League opposition because the Portuguese giants were drawn against Manchester City among others in the Champions League.

And Liverpool fans on Twitter are loving the idea that their player could harm their domestic rivals’ pursuit of glory in Europe.

Here’s how they reacted to Grujic facing Pep Guardiola’s side:

The first meeting with Porto and City comes at Eastlands on the 21st of this month.
