Arsenal reminded everybody of their potential by beating Tottenham Hotspur this past weekend.
Yes, the Gunners are still 10th in what’s been a dreadful Premier League campaign for the most part, but there’s a lot to like about Mikel Arteta’s team.
And if transfer rumours are to be believed, they could get quite a lot better during the summer.
The Express reported this past weekend that Arsenal have made contact regarding a summer move for Yves Bissouma and are also leading the way to sign defender Evan N’Dicka.
One day later, The Daily Mail claimed that the North Londoners wanted to sign Martin Odegaard – who equalised against Spurs last Sunday – on a permanent basis.
And all three could potentially turn Arsenal into a very decent – some might even say scary – side to face.
N’Dicka could be Gabriel Magalhaes’ long-term partner at centre-back; Bissouma could join the indomitable Thomas Partey in midfield, with the duo playing behind a creative spark like Odegaard who, it has to be said, is improving every single time he pulls on the shirt.
Throw Bukayo Saka, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and an improving Nicolas Pepe into the mix, this could be a brilliant outfit.
This Arsenal side is definitelymuch better than their Premier League standing suggests because, after all, they’re also the reigning FA Cup champions.
But next season, a serious top-four bid is an absolute must for Arteta if he wants to keep his job at the Emirates and if Edu gives him these three players during the summer, that goal is a lot more achieveable.
